Stewart Brown is a poet, editor, critic and visual artist. He has published several collections of poetry, including Elsewhere and a new volume, Still Mekin’ Foolishness: Collected Poems 1975-2025 is forthcoming from Peepal Tree Press. He has edited or co-edited several anthologies of African and Caribbean writing, including The Oxford Book of Caribbean Short Stories and The Oxford Book of Caribbean Poetry. He has also edited critical studies of Derek Walcott, Kamau Brathwaite and Martin Carter. He is an honorary senior research fellow at the Department of African Studies and Anthropology at the University of Birmingham and an honorary associate professor at the Yesu Persaud Centre for Caribbean Studies at the University of Warwick. BABEL: beautiful, unsayable, meaningless, profound, his visual poetries project, continues to evolve.
