A Leviathan Yawn
With the strength of a prophet’s magnet call
sitars stroke night with eastern dance,
and entertained, we grow and grow
in cycles, migrations, in dreams of leaves
We waft about as dervished foam
and dance on tip-toe through God’s breath
to feel no cold in symbols’ maw
Kings slept with metals in their death
We’ve never felt satanic fall
like winter tumbling from the time,
when mighty beasts of their own law
pulled down our lonely galaxy
When each star born brought chakra point
We burned in peace, we burned in sight
and met the tribe with the meat of crows
and the ghosts of wisdom’s pilfered light.

Sacred Empty
Commence generic mystical journey
Circuit chariots engage
Blast off explosions derange
with rip roars like whip sores
and guitar strings blowing spliff chords
so the seers can smoke this sacrifice,
our chem-trail and hallowed lies
on the rise to sacred empty
beyond illusion,
—paradise.

Heathen Kush
I.
We called her Andromeda
and she hated to go to the water
Our trunk, a laundry basket
filled with brutality’s consequences
crunches as we hit a speed-bump
much too fast with Babylon on patrol
She’s swollen, cold and stiff in the trunk
Her fingertips blew away as ash
and we knocked all her teeth out
for the extra weeks to elude forensics
morning sunlight as it streams
through the city highs in streaks on the road
grand delusions and good intentions
Confusion like vertigo and oldies AM radio
rises with our herb smoke
Farewell my mind. Farewell.
communicating familiar eyebrow concern
Dark, light, dark, light…
“You alright?” His arms cross.
His glasses slither down his nose.
I smile, and whisper more to myself,
“I’m alight.”
further and further back along the window
until it slips past the glass
I suppress a cringe as I sigh out a plume.
Andromeda turns right and into the shadow
of a shore-side alleyway.
into the water. We let her slide in slow
no splash.
I watch like she’s all that will ever matter
and my final neural record of childhood wither
broken crockery, injustices and other traumas
evanescing in more smoke.
But the planets continue in their orbits.
Andromeda accelerates. More droplets
whiz by on my window.
Then I hallucinate some dead gods.
I expect them to stay.
I don’t know why.
They don’t.

Danger On All Sides
Aqua, aurora
in the haze of marijuana
I alone step forward
A shoot out in the shadows by the banyan tree
A disaster, I record her
in the haze of marijuana
She alone step forward.
She puts the knife in shallow, says that she’ll kill me
