“I hail from Saint Ann’s Bay in Jamaica, where I first began to create poetry and art. In my paintings I wish to show an abstract reality, adding color and texture using plant powder pigment (sea algae, hibiscus, sea vegetables and rosemary) and acrylic on Canvas. In this particular series I wanted to add an air of humor. Working in abstract compositions can often become heavy and emotional; that is the nature of abstract expression. With these works it was important to me to keep the canvas smiling.”
