“In Times of Hurricane” by Dorsía Smith Silva

The black sky rips
open to the eating

wind, tree limbs and
flowers reveal naked

dirt, somersaulting pieces
of wood pummel doors, as

beauty spins away, bent
in a thumbnail second. The

wind barrels lamp posts and
telephone wires, moving

light swims against the darkness.
Everything fades into the

glyphs of rain, claiming
recognition. You obey.
