In this developing series of oil paintings, Shansi Miller represents her Virgin Islands subjects as protagonists in an epic creole history, referencing both the masterpieces of Western art and local V.I. folklore. These dignified portraits are an ongoing exploration of the nuances of identity and history on her home island of St. Thomas.
