Sali Stanley (b. 1992) is a painter and mixed-media artist from the village of Toco, Trinidad. She has been practicing art since a child. Most of her art is based on images and experiences of growing up in the countryside with schizophrenic family members, reflecting on nature, spirituality, and psychology in mixed media assemblages that are otherworldly and surreal. She in interested in art as both escapism and as therapeutic catharsis. Since 2020, she has been at work on a series of pieces based at Mt. Plaisir Hotel, Grande Riviere, ‘How to Grow In A Desert’ is among them.
