The 2017 Commonwealth Short Story Prize is now open for entry

Closing date: 1 November 2016

The Prize is awarded for the best piece of unpublished short fiction (2,000-5,000 words) in English. Short stories translated into English are also eligible. The overall winner receives £5,000 and the regional winners receive £2,500.

The Prize is open to both published and unpublished writers who are Commonwealth citizens aged 18 and over. Entry is free.

  1. Hi, when it says unpublished does that mean I can submit something I wrote for university studies. I would like to add a bit to it or is it required to be something brand new. I have never entered anything before so thought it best to check.
